Good observation is a key to beating your online poker opponents at a poker table, but once you’ve seen how they play online poker , it’s another matter to interpret just what their play style means for you. Knowing how your poker online opponents play is useless if you don’t know what to do with that knowledge, so once you feel like you’ve got a handle on your opponents’ play styles, it’s time to start strategizing how to use that knowledge to your advantage. The looser players are more likely to go into a hand with a weak hand, and if a tight player enters the pot, you can bet that he’s got a stronger hand. Weaker hands will usually stand up against a looser player, as they generally will go into a hand with much weaker cards than a tight player will. A feeler bet after the flop can usually work against a loose player, since the flop is less likely make his hand. If you are facing a tight player, the odds are that he’s got a solid starting hand, so you usually need some pretty strong cards to stay in the hand with a tight player. Bluffing doesn’t always work against these guys, because they usually don’t get involved unless they’ve got a hand they believe in.

Sometimes you can set a trap for your opponent in a poker hand in one move. Slowplaying on the flop might lead to a bet than you then checkraise, springing the fact that you had disguised your holding, and the cat is out of the bag. Some traps, once set, though, do even more damage if you continue to let them lie, as long as you are careful to make sure that the trap you set doesn’t end up coming back to rip you up rather than who you’d set it for.
Watching Tom Dwan play his cash game on episodes of the recent season of High Stakes Poker displayed, I think, some new evidence for the way an extended trap can work. Even in spots where Dwan might not have the ultimate nuts, he would often check and check and check down his largish hands even when his opponent checked back, waiting for them to be the one that sprung the trap on themselves. He proved himself willing to make nothing on two small streets if the final street could potentially end up paying off more than the whole package itself.
Laying extended traps instead of immediate ones is good to keep a variety in your expectation, so that your poker online opponent won’t take a defensive position the pattern inherent in your usual play.

I was reading one of my favorite online poker forums the other day and a simple question was raised that elicited a very complicated response. I like the response however, because it was well thought out and made a lot of sense from a purely mathematical and poker perspective. The question was: If your online poker pot odds are greater than your percentage or odds of winning a hand do you call, or is it vice versa? The simple answer is yes you call. If the pot odds are greater than your chance of winning you call. Let’s say you have a 1:4 chance of winning, and the pot offers your 1:5 odds to call, you call. But let’s look at the complicated mathematical answer, just because I find that kind of stuff fascinating as a poker player. A general formula for figuring out pot odds can be expressed as such: Let “e%” stand for your equity in a hand (i.e. chance of winning). The odds against your winning can be expressed as 100-e:e or translated into (100/e)-1 to 1 So if the pot odds are greater than (100/e)-1 you will call. Now an example to show how this works. e=30, therefore you have 30% equity in your hand, or rather a 30% chance of winning at that point in time. You calculate (100/30)-1 : 1 to estimate the odds of you losing the hand. So (3.3-1):1 are your odds, or roughly 2.3:1 for the sake of simplicity. The pot is 120 dollars. Your opponent bets 40 dollars. To play you have to put in 40 dollars. So your risk is 40:160 otherwise known as 1:4. Essentially, you have a 2.3:1 chance to lose the hand and you’re given 4:1 odds to call. 4 is greater than 2.3 so you have plenty of odds to call. Basically what you do is hope for higher pot odds than the chance of you losing. If your equity were only 10% in the example above you’d have a 9:1 chance of losing the hand. Therefore you’d need pot odds that were greater than 9:1 to profitably call. Essentially the pot would have to be 100, your opponent would have to bet 10, and give you 11:1 odds to make 11>9 give you the mathematically correct odds to call.

Researchers have found that chocolate addiction or eating fatty foods releases a hormone called serotonin that regulates intestinal movements of your body. Unutilized serotonin is used by your brain for controlling your appetites, moods and anger. This may be the reason for people becoming happy and active upon eating chocolates.
Scientists, while not considering this an “addiction”, opine that the body becomes more aware of the sensory stimulation and mood changes chocolate cause with its flavor or nutrients.
The good news is you can
make chocolate candy on your own. But if you want to become a chocolate maker, you should know the basic terminologies.
- Chocolate liquor, otherwise called the cocoa liquor or the cocoa mass, comes from roasting and grinding cocoa beans. This contains approximately 53% of cocoa butter, the main ingredient for chocolates.
- Baking chocolate is the hardened and unsweetened chocolate liquor in blocks after cooling and molding.
- Cocoa butter, which is the basic ingredient to white chocolate, is the natural fat of coffee beans and extracted from the chocolate liquor before it hardens into baking chocolate. When it is added back, it gives texture and flavor to the chocolate.
- Couverture gives the glossy patina coated on the truffles and the chocolate candies and this has 35% cocoa butter in it.
- Cocoa powder is got by dehydrating chocolate liquid without cocoa butter and is used for making Instant chocolate drinks.
- Bitter chocolate is otherwise called dark chocolate and contains 35% chocolate liquor.
- Semi-sweet chocolate has 15% chocolate liquor, sweetened by adding sugar.
- Milk chocolate is the basic ingredient for chocolate candy bars and has chocolate liquor, sugar and milk in it.
- Tempering is the final step in chocolate making to get shine, smoothness and long shelf life.
The things needed for making your chocolates are a double boiler, a mixing bowl, candy molds or baking sheet, a wooden spatula or spoon. The basic ingredient required is white or dark chocolate but fruits are optional.
Chocolate making starts with melting the chocolate on a double boiler and you should keep on stirring it with a wooden spoon or a spatula. The melted chocolate is poured on a baking sheet or into the candy molds to dry. Fruit-filled chocolate candy is made by submerging the fruit in the melted chocolate. Eliminating the air bubbles, you can air dry the candies or set it in the freezer.
The final step of tempering is done to avoid blotch or crystal formation on the chocolates. Chocolate does not have shine and smoothness on its own. Tempering gives shine to it. Crystals are distributed evenly. The challenge is maintaining specific temperatures during melting. You may choose to use chocolate tempering machines for quicker tempering.
By learning to make chocolates, you can not only gift chocolates to others, but can sell your chocolates and make money out of this so-called “addiction”.

One of the great things about online poker is that the game is reduced from a wide variety of influences in the live act down to a more ‘pure’ essence of the game. In live poker, you are given to a large variety of information outside the pure value of the cards in your hand and the cards on the table, such as a player’s look, style, mannerisms, way he handles chips, etc. Online, though, we are hidden behind our mouses, and the field is drastically reduced. Though there are still certain amount of sidelong information to be leaked through the online poker interface. As in live poker, one of the first things a player sees about you when you approach the table is how you carry yourself. poker avatars, as well as handles, can be manipulated in certain circumstances to present yourself to your opponents in a variety of ways. While subtle, these can be powerful and perhaps an unconscious factor in the way the game goes down. One of the more common avatar tricks I’ve heard about is the use of weak looking avatars. A lot of players will pick the female icons and give themselves a feminine sounding name in an expectation of bending the downplay of female poker players. There often seems a different stripe of behavior shown to lady players (as discussed on a recent edition of the 2008 WSOP’s ‘The Nuts’) and to bend this category in your favor can be deceitful and valuable. As well, using aggressive names like ‘PokerWildman’ and etc. when you are a tight player, while perhaps obviously a face-value enumeration, can put a certain kind of nugget in your opponent’s head about the kind of player you are, especially if you are new to them. While it certainly won’t do that much for you against non-newbies, most likely, it’s still an interesting idea to consider how nuances in your online poker avatar might affect you: and therefore, are something worth toggling with. Some of the people in the world are just so carefree, they are so open and happy that it can make some of us wonder what in the world is going on. It must be the way that their minds are wired because they never give what most of us view as burdensome in such a way.
These carefree and happy people view everything in life as an opportunity. When something bad happens they look at what can be learned from it and how it can make things better. If the car broke down and could not start in the middle of the highway, the carefree and happy person can look at this as an opportunity to meet someone new, someone who is kind enough to stop and help them. A person that would go out of their way to help them is a very good person and someone that makes for a great friend. While most of us are all ticked about the car not working, the carefree and happy person is looking at the opportunity. They probably take excellent care of themselves, eat healthy, sleep, take supplements like acceletrim and exercise regularly. The key to being carefree and happy is to look at everything that life throws your way as a potential positive opportunity.

The world’s largest online poker site, PokerStars, successfully set a new world record for the largest online poker tournament ever played, almost larger than any game you’ll find at a casino. The even took place on December 28, 2008, with 35,000 entrants starting out in the field. This Hold ‘em tournament broke the previous record, also set by PokerStars, in July 2007 with about 20,000 players.
The buy-in was relatively low — $10 + $1 US, with PokerStars guaranteeing a prize pool of $500,000 by making a contribution of $150,000. About 25 percent of the players - 8,750 - actually made it to the money. This is almost as many players that participated in the largest ever live poker tournament, the 2006 WSOP, which had 8,773 entries.
The December 2008 tournament sold out in advance, and the playing lasted for nearly 10 hours.
