I am also compassionate to his defense of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer,” after all, who am I to debate with praising a song which has an honoured place on my iPod? But I wish to take issue with his critique of Lady Gaga as the opposite of Madonna. My musical tastes and self-image were enviously joined with punk music, and the operatic visions of The Who’s Tommy and Quadrophenia. Now that I am middle aged, Madonna has a comfortable retro feel.
